“Truth and Consequences” – Chapter 8 – Breaking the Blue Wall by Justin Hopson, my personal favorite.

“The power of corruption is when the truth becomes a lie.” Justin Hopson.     Chapter 8 – is my personal favorite. Justin’s visit to Hawaii and painful conversations with me about the entire saga of his “inauspicious beginning as a state trooper” were astonishing, sad and shocking. I remember telling him how proud I was of him and that he was going to win because the he was standing on the truth.

Justin told me, “I was the keynote speaker of the court-martial calling out fellow officers..while they sat glaring at me.. “The culture of corruption is powerful. It wasn’t built in a day. It won’t come down quickly either.” Justin Hopson.

Review of the Book:  Cynthia Barley “Breaking the Blue Wall” by Justin Hopson……insightful battle between the forces of darkness and the FORCE OF LIGHT!

I was deeply encouraged by Justin’s faith and perseverance in the midst of the Hellish forces of darkness seeking to undo him at every turn. His godly character and commitment to truth is a rare jewel in this present darkness!

Please forward the following to your son:  Excerpt: A letter to William Wilberforce from John Wesley:  Unless God raised you up for this very thing, you will be worn out by the opposition of men and devils.

But if God be for you, who can be against you? Are all of them together stronger than God? O be not weary of well-doing. Go on, in the name of God and in the power of his might, till even American slavery ( the vilest that ever saw the sun) shall vanish away before it.  That HE who has guided you from youth up, may continue to strengthen you in this, and all things, is the prayer of, dear sir, Your Affectionate Servant, John Wesley

“Calling all Dectectives” – Chapter 7 – Justin Hopson’s “Breaking the Blue Wall”.

Trooper Justin Hopson

“Living Large on Less” is only possible when the freedoms we enjoy are upheld.  The movement of speaking up against corruption, where ever you find it, takes courage and integrity on a personal level.  Yet when one finds others who stand with them, the victory is more certain.

I am currently being trained in the comprehensive, integrative, multicomponent crisis intervention system, CISM, Critical Incident Stress Management.  On their website, the example is given that “as one would never attempt to play a round of golf with only one golf club, one would not attempt the complex task of intervention within a crisis or disaster with only one crisis intervention technology.” http://www.cisresponse.com/cism.htm

It is a useful course for those who are working extensively with victims who are traumatized.  Sometimes, those who suffer the greatest PTSD are those on the front lines, the first responders to disaster, those who lead the way in the battle against corruption.   They need our support. In the case of a whistleblower, imagine yourself a victim of abuse showered daily with threats, taunting psycological trauma from your own workplace, and you are alone, an island, surrounded by sharks.  Why? Because you exposed misconduct.

In the case of Justin Hopson, he knew what he was up against after a meeting with the Deputy Attorney General of New Jersey at the time.

She said, “We have to look at the bigger picture here.  We all want to do the right thing, but I know you would never want to be a part of anything ugly enough to hurt recruitment.”

Justin writes, : “Recruitment? I was being told to play nice with lawbreakers; that civil rights violations and corrupt “Law enforement” were bad, but that the unpleasantness of dealing with them was worse.  I still wasn’t buying that.”

This is how corruption begins.  Galatians 5:9: A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

We need more troopers like Justin Hopson, more people who have courage and integrity to stop the rise of corruption in our country.  Join the movement to expose corruption.  Contact me below or email me at junebianchi3@gmail.com.

Misconduct – Blue Walls All Around – Chapter 6 – “Breaking the Blue Wall”

th-3

“There were plenty of great men and women in blue who were honorable, and I had already met my share of them.  But what if they continued to be driven out by that other element…?  A department pays out $3.5 million dollars to a series of plaintiffs, all because of ignorant, boorish behavior that could easily be avoided__groping, offensive expletives, pornography in lockers__then we must be talking about an entrenched system.”

When budgets are being cut, and that money could be better spent on fighting crime, we ask.  How can the roots of misconduct be pulled up to bring about reform?  Justin Hopson answers this question in his award winning book, “Breaking the Blue Wall” one Man’s War Against Police Corruption. “A great number of strong individuals grab hold together and start yanking.  I could think of more pleasant things to do with my life, but I knew now that I was going to have to be one of those people.  I increased my grip and resolved that I would not let go.”

Do you see Police Misconduct as a problem?  Have you been the victim of Police Misconduct?  I would like to hear from you.  Together we can expose what is going on.  For the sake of the great men and women in Blue and for the safety of our children and grandchildren, let’s pull some weeds.  The most important rule of weeding: Don’t leave the roots behind. If you yank only the leaves, weeds will grow back. Grab the weed close to the ground and pull straight up. Do it right the first time, you’re done

Police Corruption: Highly Confidential Interview – Truth Substantiated – Chapter 5 – Breaking the Blue Wall

UnknownVideo 1 minute mark: Actual Unlawful Arrest Shown on ABC – 20/20 Confessions of a Cop.

Internal Affairs Investigation outcome:  Dectective during interview,  “Trooper Hopson, we’ve investigated all your allegations from the first meeting,”  “Each one of them has been verified.” … “We studied the videotape of the drunk driving arrest,” He continued. “Then we followed up by interviewing the occupants of the red sedan.  Just as you said, it was a white male driving.  It’s also clear that everyone knew it, including your trainer.”… “Key moment on the video,” said the detective, “was the voice of Trooper Cole saying these words___”The guy driving the car ditched.”  So it’s obvious the truth was on your side, and that your trainer__by his own self-incriminated words__made an unlawful arrest, lied about it, and allowed you to be hazed. The whole thing is frankly sickening.  It’s sickening for your sake, for the sake of those arrested, and for all of us who depend on law and justice.”

“Thank God for videotape.”   Justin Hopson.

Unfortunately, this finding did not end the harassment for Trooper Hopson.  Retaliation continued, because he refused to support an illegal arrest.  Hopson became the target of a sensitive internal investigation.  Miranda rights read.  Advised to get an attorney.  Sergeant shaking his head,

“This is the first time I’ve ever had to do this with a Trooper.” Hopson prayed and repeated the Bible verse, “The truth shall set you free.”  Eventually charges were dropped. … Hopson writes, “I was glad to be working, grateful to have “left the scene of the crime.  But still there was the feeling that I was a team player on the wrong team.”  …  “An official who called me to tell me about a new follow-up.  More issues being investigated to scare me.  I expressed loud and clear, that I had deep concerns for my safety.  The official concluded …”Don’t take this the wrong way, Hopson, but I wouldn’t want to be in your shoes.”  “Actually, I didn’t like being in them myself, but i took his meaning: Be on guard, my friend.”

Hopson knew he was now a cog in the big New Jersey State Police wheel.  A stubborn one.

“John Oliva had started it, and I was going to see it through__for him, for his parents, for all of us.  His tragic life was over, but I had inherited his legacy.  Though we had never known each other, our life purposes were now intertwined.  I could not afford to fail.  Justin Hopson

The threads of corruption are tying our society into a knot.  We feel that our hands are tied.  The problem is too big.  But we each can do our part.

“So the next time you find yourself in the middle of a test of integrity, don’t be corrupted.  America is waiting for someone like you and someone like me to stand up and act with integrity. ”  Justin Hopson.

Racial Profiling: Chapter 4 – The Strange Legacy of John Oliva – “Breaking the Blue Wall” by Justin Hopson.

perspective_4-1

2002 New Jersey State Police News:   Trooper John L. Oliva joined the New Jersey State Police on November 13, 1998, as a member of the 118th Class. He was assigned to Troop “A” and served as a general road duty trooper at Bellmawr, Buena Vista, Woodbine and Tuckerton Stations. Trooper Oliva, who had been out on administrative absence, was scheduled to return to full duty on October 15, 2002.

Oliva performed exceedingly well at the Academy, earning an award for “highest overall physical average,” and maintaining an academic average of 88.9. (Pl’s Ex. 7) Although he was a “new recruit” to the State Police, Oliva had extensive experience in other law enforcement positions. He began his career in the Marines, serving four years before his honorable discharge. Oliva spent another four years as a corrections officer in Atlantic County (Pl’s Ex. 1) before becoming a municipal police officer. He served as a municipal police officer for six years before entering the State Police Academy. (Pl’s Ex. 3-4) During his time as a municipal police officer, he was repeatedly recognized by his superiors for his “outstanding performance.” (Pl’s Ex. 4)

ESTATE OF John OLIVA, Plaintiff, v. State of NEW JERSEY, et al., Defendants.

United States District Court, D. New Jersey.

September 30, 2008.the Plaintiff, in this case, Oliva was continually harassed by other members of the State Police on account of Oliva’s “whistleblowing” about alleged racial profiling in conducting traffic stops. This harassment, Plaintiff alleges, was so severe that it caused Oliva to take his own life.

Mr. Hopson never met John, but he knew that they “had been occupying parallel hells”.

Exerpt From Breaking the Blue Wall;  I was deeply troubled when I heard the news. …I decided to learn all that I could about the strange life and death of Trooper John Oliva….It had all started like me, a fresh-faced boot just out of the academy.  Oliva’s training officer would drive the patrol car to the I-76 ramp at Camden.  He would park in a grassy area where Oliva would be told to keep an eye out for certain racial types.  The idea was to pull them over, find the drugs, then write ticket and figure out the probable cause later…Oliva later testified that in each case, the charges were ___for lack of a better term___lies. “WE never even followed them,”  he said.  “We made up the violation to justify the stops.”…That is when the Lords of Discipline stepped up to make their presence known….Meanwhile, Oliva’s trainer was actually promoted even as Oliva’s serious charges against him were on the record.  Remarkably, Oliva’s trainer became an instructor at the academy and in 2001 taught me police tactics.

After some reflection, I decided to attend Trooper Oliva’s viewing at the funeral home……It wasn’t a very comfortable experience.  Some part of me wondered if this could be a preview of coming attractions. But it felt like the right thing to do, being there to honor John and support his family.

Then, in the open coffin, I finally saw John himself..I looked hard at his face, wondering what secrets lay behind those tranquil features.  What advice would he give me if he could open his eyes and speak at this moment?  His weeping family stood all around, including John, Sr., the father…I shook the hand of John Oliva, Sr.  Though I was a stranger and not emotionally demonstrative, I pulled him to a near embrace.  “Sir, I am a fellow trooper,” I began. “I never had the privilege of meeting your son.”  I waited for eye contact before adding, “What I want you to know is that he did not die in vain.  Your son’s sacrifice will change the New Jersey State Police.  And the so-called Lords of Discipline will be dealt with.  I wanted you to be sure about that.”  He found it hard to speak, but a dawning awareness appeared in his wet eyes.  “You are like John, aren’t you?” Those words sent a chill down my spine.  I just looked back at him.  “You are,” he said more confidently. “You are like him.” Justin Hopson.

Death of a Thousand Cuts – Chapter 3 – “In the Name of the Lords”

The Chinese had a method of slow execution called the “dealth of a thousand cuts.  The idea is that little things add up….So much of what I faced in the, the darkest period of my life was trifling, even petty.  But it took its ongoing toll.”  Justin Hopson

According to John Stark’s book, Troopers Behind the Badge, for two decades the hazing organization, Lords of Discipline within the New Jersey State Police, had been using a kind of harassment, or keeping everyone in line as an accepted part of life while the powers that be look the other way.  How did Trooper Hopson stand against this?

Maybe you or someone you know is being harassed and bullied.  Unfortunately, this method of a thousand cuts have caused fine men in the uniform to succumb.  Justin Hopson lays a strategy and commitment to stand up and see it through in his book, Breaking the Blue Wall.

Aftermath: Breaking the Blue Wall – Chapter 2 – Have you ever been faced with a test of Integrity when you knew it could cost you, everything?

th-4

“I had assisted in the arrest, helped issue the ticket, and participated in an untruthful report. How could I have gotten myself into such a situation in only eleven days of duty?  I came to the conclusion that it wasn’t about me; I had taken my stance because truth was the truth.  It needed to be respected, regardless of the consequences.”  Justin Hopson

With subpoena in hand to appear in court. Docket, DUI arrest.  Called to testify under oath. Prosecuter asks, “Hey troop___I watched the videotape of the car stop.  Are you sure she was driving the car?” This was the moment.  Test of integrity.  We all face it at one time or another.  Can we pass the test?
New Jersey State Trooper, Justin Hopson with his Training Officer in the chambers.  Which way was the wind was going to blow.  Was Hopson going to play along or crash and burn.

Living Large On Less: Because of God’s Promises

God’s Promises

1 Chronicles 28:20 And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.

God’s promises. To those that are given a mantle, the prophet’s mantle,  an indication of his authority and responsibility as God’s chosen spokesman (2 Kings 2:8) and is proven by holiness and consecration and good fruit resulting from one who is truly wrapped in God’s authority, may the Holy Spirit empower you to fully accomplish.

For those like Donald Trump, and my son, Justin Hopson and others who have been given a mantle, the Blood of Jesus, cover you, protect you and give you everything you need from the reservoirs of God’s provision to finish well. Bless you, richly with God’s favor.

People, pray as never before for our President and for those in the body of Christ that have been chosen to be a spokesman, to offer hope to us for our children and grandchildren, who are not afraid and do not cower or become corrupted from the flood of opposition that comes with speaking the truth.  We live in serious times.  Christians, we need to choose this day whom we serve and serve.

With all of our might, in the grace and love of Jesus Christ who laid his life down for us so that we might live,  we remember our battle is God’s battle, yet, we are together in this.  Will you let me know that you have signed up be in God’s army and mission to preserve and lift up the Name of Jesus on earth.  TOGETHER, GOD’S WILL. Let me hear from you.  Blessings, June
